There are some journeys you take for adventure, and some you take for memories. My trek to Churdhar Peak was both.
I’m Amanpreet Singh, and this is the story of how I explored one of Himachal Pradesh’s most beautiful summits with my friends — a journey filled with laughter, sweat, silence, and unforgettable views. This Churdhar Travel Guide will help you experience the same magic.
The Start of the Adventure – A Plan Turned Into Reality
Like most trips with friends, our Churdhar plan began with a random conversation and a sudden burst of excitement. We had heard stories of dense forests, steep climbs, and a 360-degree view from the peak — enough to pull us into the adventure.
We packed light, wore our trekking shoes, and left early morning for Nohradhar, the base village for the Churdhar trek. The mountains looked calm, as if waiting to test us.
The Trek Begins – Between Oaks and Pines
From the first step, Churdhar welcomed us with a forest so quiet that even our footsteps sounded loud. The trail was a mix of steep climbs, open meadows, sharp turns, and little tea stalls where we stopped to rest and share jokes.
Walking with friends is different —
the journey doesn’t feel long,
the tiredness doesn’t feel heavy,
and the mountains somehow feel friendlier.
Midway – The Famous Jamta Point
After a few hours of climbing, we reached Jamta, a huge open meadow surrounded by green hills. Here we rested, clicked pictures, and soaked in the wind that carried the scent of cedar trees.
A local shopkeeper smiled and said,
“Bas thoda aur, view toh kamaal ka hai.”
(Just a little more, the view is spectacular.)
That was enough motivation to push ahead.
The Final Stretch – Where the Real Challenge Begins
The last few kilometers were the toughest — steep rocks, narrow paths, and the cold breeze pushing against us. But every time one of us slowed down, another friend pulled them forward. That’s the beauty of trekking with your people.
When the white statue of Lord Shiva on the peak came into sight, our tiredness instantly disappeared.
Reaching Churdhar Peak – Feeling on Top of the World
Standing at 11,965 ft, the view from Churdhar is something words struggle to describe. Snow-covered Himalayan ranges — Kedarnath, Badrinath, Shrikhand Mahadev — stood proudly in the distance.
The wind was freezing, but our hearts were warm.
We sat quietly for a moment, watching clouds float below us, feeling small yet infinite. It was one of those rare moments when the world seems perfect.
Descending Back – Stories, Laughter & Promises
The way down was faster but filled with stories of how each of us struggled, laughed, slipped, and kept going. Every trek has its moments, but this one left us with a sense of togetherness that only mountains can create.
